What is the 3-bucket washing method?2018-02-24T20:51:37+00:00

The idea here is to properly clean your vehicle without scratching the paint or surface. A good detailer will NEVER cross-contaminate when washing your vehicle. What we mean by cross-contaminate is you would never want to use the same wash mitt you use on your wheels and engine bay and dip it into a bucket full of debris, dirt, and containments and then use that same mitt on your paint. We use 3 buckets to prevent cross contamination of dirt, grime and contaminants. One bucket is designated only for cleaning the wheels. This bucket has a ph balanced soup and its own wash mitt along with wheel woolies for the harder to reach areas.

The rest of the car has 2 buckets with Grit Guards: one bucket is for washing and the other is for rinsing. The washing bucket has specialized soap to not harm your paint with 2 wash mitts. The other bucket is full of clean water used for dipping your wash mitt after you wipe down your car. The Grit guards trap the dirt, grime and contaminants and keeps it off the mitts. We wash the car with separate mitts from top to bottom to further eliminate the possibility of scratching the car. This 3 bucket method is the best way to wash and rinse a vehicle because it drastically reduces the amount of abrasives that can  touch your paint and create less scratches. We treat all our vehicles we detail in this manner.

When do I pay?2018-02-24T20:52:38+00:00

Payment transaction is expected after the vehicle has been fully detailed and the keys are given back to the owner. We accept multiple forms of payments. If you are a first time customer, checks are not accepted. Acceptable forms of payment are: cash, Pay Pal, Venmo, Cash App, or Square Cash (3% fee for Credit/Debit Card users).

Why are there pricing variables?2018-03-12T02:11:00+00:00

EXCESSIVE DIRT

Because every car is not created equal, that means dirt, stains, spills, etc… are also not created equal. Excessive dirt build up will absolutely affect the price of the detail. A sedan that has not been cleaned in 6 months versus one that has not been cleaned in 6 years will require very different things in order to get the job done correctly, and therefore will not be quoted at the same rate. There is a difference between what I call “excessive dirt” and “surface dirt.” Surface dirt is exactly what it sounds like, it is the simple dust and dirt that has not been allowed to sit for extremely long periods of time that is relatively easy to clean and therefore detail. Excessive dirt is of course the other end of that, dirt that has been allowed to sit and more or less become part of the car. Vehicles with excessive dirt tend to be Family sized vehicles.  For the most part these are mini vans, expeditions, and sedans that are used to cart the kids around. They tend to have excessive crumbs, dirt, staining, etc… Cars with kids, as a rule, are always dirtier, there’s really just no way to get around it.  One person’s clean is another person’s dirty.

In these kinds of situations, I like to ask extensive pre-screening questions with all my new customers over the phone before I arrive to evaluate the condition level of the vehicle.  The price may be adjusted based on the size and condition of the customers vehicle.

TRAVEL TIME

Because I am a mobile detailer, I am accustomed to driving in order to get to a job, however there are instances when I am traveling too far not to charge. At the end of the day, I am having to pay for gas, as well as simply my time. As a rule, if the job is under 35 minutes away, I do not charge anything extra, however when I start stepping into traveling 45 minutes to an hour, I charge anything from $15 to $50 extra. This is an area where I sometimes tell customers that it may be a better financial decision simply to have someone closer to their area to do the job, of course there is no promising they will bring the same value to the table that I bring, but that is a decision you have to make.

EXTERIOR GRIME BUILD UP

Cars that are not washed, clayed, or waxed regularly will obviously take more time to raise to a level 10 condition, and therefore may increase the cost.  Things like tree sap, bugs, regular tar and grime on the paint and tires, brake dust, etc… will be much more difficult to remove when left to sit for long periods of time. To keep up with these issues, we suggest booking a maintenance wash within every 8 weeks.

Do I need to remove my personal items before you detail the vehicle?2018-02-19T00:41:20+00:00

Yes. If you do not remove your personal items, we will place it all in a bag for you. Tornado Shine is not responsible for any personal items missing from the vehicles we detail.

Can you detail while I am at work?2018-03-11T19:46:44+00:00

Yes with your employer’s permission. We are licensed and insured for such a time as this. One of the pros of being a mobile detailer is we can come to you no matter where you are.

Do you detail during the winter season?2018-02-19T00:41:20+00:00

Yes. We will come to you all year round.

What happens if it rains?2021-09-22T17:27:21+00:00

Depending on how heavy it is raining, we are sometimes still able to offer an interior detail.  We make every effort to still come to you. If you have access to a garage or covered area and grant permission, we can honor your appointment. Otherwise, we will have to reschedule for the next available time slot.

Do I need to be with the vehicle during the detail?2018-02-19T00:41:20+00:00

No. We just need to meet before and after the detail process to receive access to the vehicle and receive payment upon competition.

Can I call you or text you to book an appointment?2018-02-19T00:41:20+00:00

Yes, we encourage that. You can also book on your mobile device by using our online scheduling assistant. Just follow the user friendly step by step process and you will be booked in no time.

Does soap really matter when detailing my vehicle?2018-02-19T00:41:20+00:00

Detailing your car starts with the correct cleaning agents to use in removing the stubborn dirt and grime. Therefore, it is safe to say that the type of soap that you use does matter. It should be effective enough to thoroughly clean the dirt but mild enough not to damage your paint job. We use a pH balanced highly concentrated blend of mild surfactants and cleaners that actually enhance the shine of painted vehicles each time it is used. It does not contain acids or alkali and will not remove durable polishes.  It Shines as it Cleans.
